Ag Production - Cow / Calf 30

Cow / Calf 30 focuses on beef support systems.

Students may choose to take either Cow/Calf or Equine studies to earn this credit, but not both.

Prerequisite

Recommend completing Ag Production - Cow/Calf 20. Access to cattle and livestock facilities is required.

What Will I Learn?

Students will improve their time management skills, and learn about shipping, receiving, hauling, culling, breeding decisions, animal first aid and beef food safety.

Students will prepare videos to demonstrate skills they have learned from the course.

Due to the seasonal nature of this course, we suggest that learners who register for Semester 1 allow all year for course completion.

The course consists of:

  • 30-40 assignments

  • a resource binder final project

  • hands-on skills

Hauling livestock

Operating augers, air compressors and other farm equipment
