Energy and Mines - Oil & Gas 20

Students will learn about energy exploration, production and environmental stewardship practices, as well as industry trends, safety, economic impacts and technological advancements. Students will have the opportunity to explore the many career paths available in the energy sector.

Sask DLC coordinates the 50-hour work placement in the oil and gas sector. This course is offered in Semester 2 only.

What Will I Learn?

Students will learn how oil and gas is formed, and how technology is used to explore and distribute petroleum. Students will learn about the many career paths available in the energy sector, including hands-on experience as a production field operator.

The course consists of two parts:

  • 50 hours of online theory

  • 50 hours of work placement coordinated by Sask DLC

All students, parents and mentors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with our work placement policy.

We will do our best to find a local work placement; however, we may not be able to accommodate placements in all situations, and/or some travel may be required.
