This course explores contemporary issues of concern for Indigenous peoples, here in Canada and around the world. The principle of wholeness is prominent throughout the course as topics of self-determination and governance, social justice and sustainable development are considered.

What Will I Learn?

Through exploration of Indigenous values and work views, you will gain understanding of the historical and global struggle for self-determination and self-governance. You will explore human rights from an Indigenous perspective and delve into issues related to development and growth, including economically, environmentally and socially.

You will learn about topics including sovereignty, Treaties, land claims and International Declarations and how these impact sustainable development, conservation, human rights and justice.
