What Will I Learn?

The curriculum for the courses has been adopted from the Standardization of Power Engineering Examinations Committee (SOPEEC) curriculum for a 5th Class Power Engineer.

The courses involves:

  • 50 to 75 hours of online theory

  • 50 hours spent on a work-study obtaining the steam time requirements for the course and for the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan's (TSASK) 5th Class Power Engineering Certification.

  • Travel may be required for the work-study portion of the course and all travel costs are the student's responsibility.

Work-study hours in the SaskPower Mobile Lab are coordinated by Sask DLC and locations are determined yearly based on student registration. You can learn more about Sask DLC's 5th and 4th Class Power Engineering programs here.

Upon completion of this course and the Power Engineering 20L course, you will have the opportunity to write your Class 5 Power Engineering exam, administered by TSASK. If you are successful on this exam, you will receive a Class 5 Engineering industry recognized certificate.
