You will explore the basics of wildlife and habitat management, focusing on examining the relationship between humans and wildlife, safe and sustainable practices for outdoor activities through land-based learning opportunities.
You will explore ways to enjoy the outdoors sustainably and will be provided multiple opportunities for land-based learning. You will learn the knowledge and skills needed to responsibly care for the natural environment and species around you, while gaining a better understanding of climate change and building your own leadership skills.
You will learn about the benefits of connecting with the land, wilderness safety, navigation, how to leave little to no trace of your presence, how to tie basic knots and build shelters. You will also learn about game harvesting, angling and fishing, hunting practices and regulations.
Throughout the course, you will be provided options to do a written assignment describing outdoor skills and experience or go on an outdoor excursion and reflect on the process.
